Michael E. Campbell is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arch Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: ARJ), a global Biocides company with annual sales of over $1 billion.  He has led the Company since its inception in February 1999, guiding it through a period of significant change that has strengthened its market leadership positions, increased its operational efficiency and enhanced its reputation as an innovative supplier.

Arch and its subsidiaries have leadership positions in Biocides, Water Products, Wood Protection and Personal Care Ingredients.  Prior to the creation of Arch Chemicals, Mr. Campbell served as Olin Corporation’s Executive Vice President, overseeing all businesses.  Mr. Campbell served during the mid-1990s as President of Olin Microelectronic Materials.  During his tenure as president, the division posted record sales and earnings as it satisfied strong demand from global semiconductor manufacturers.

A native of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Mr. Campbell received his Bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1968.  Following service as a U.S. Naval officer, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University in 1974.  At law school, he was elected to the Law Review and earned membership in the Order of the Coif, a legal honor society.  He has also attended the Yale Executive Management Program.

Mr. Campbell serves as Lead Director on the MeadWestvaco Corporation’s Board of Directors, where he is a member of the Finance Committee and the Nominating and Governance Committee.  He also serves on the Milliken & Company Board of Directors, where he is a member of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee as well as the Nominating and Governance Committee.  Mr. Campbell serves on the Board and the Executive Committee of the National Association of Manufacturers.  He was the former Chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers and Chairman of the US-China Business Relations Task Force.  Mr. Campbell serves on the American Chemistry Council Board, where he was the former Chairman of the Board. He is the former chairman of the Society of Chemical Industry. Previously, Mr. Campbell served as Co-Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee and Chairman of the Corporate Relations Committee at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.  He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Business Council of Fairfield County. He is a member of the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy.

In May 2004, Mr. Campbell was named Responsible Care Leader of the Year by the American Chemistry Council Responsible Care Team.  Mr. Campbell is also the recipient of the 2004 Vanguard Award, presented by the Chemical Educational Foundation to individuals who foster a greater understanding of chemistry and the industry through community outreach, product stewardship, leadership and support for educational activities.

In July 2005, Mr. Campbell was appointed by President Bush to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and negotiations (ACTPN). The ACTPN is the principal trade advisory committee providing overall policy advice on trade matters to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). Mr. Campbell is also a member of the ACTPN China Task Force.  In September, 2010 he was reappointed to the Advisory Committee by President Obama.

In March 2010, Mr. Campbell received the Chemical Industry Medal from the Society of Chemical Industry's America International Group.
