Performance Products

Arch's Performance Products business segment encompasses a variety of specialty chemicals including performance polyols for coatings, adhesives, sealant and elastomers; glycols for antifreeze, cleaning products and consumer goods; and hydrazine propellants and hydrates. Our Performance Urethanes business has built a leadership position in supplying performance polyols to the CASE market – Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers. Innovative products and go-the-extra-mile service are also propelling our Hydrazine Business to new heights.

Performance Urethanes
Whether off-the-shelf formulations or products customized for unique customer needs, our polyether polyols for non-foam applications are proven winners in everything from coatings for gymnasium floors to urethane in-line skate wheels and bowling balls.

Hydrazine
Our Ultra Pure™ hydrazine propellant reliably propels the majority of the world’s satellites. Arch monomethylhydrazine provides the power to maneuver the space shuttle in orbit and to bring it safely back to earth.

Arch hydrazine hydrate is used to produce many of the blowing agents used to expand plastics and rubber to make them lighter, more resilient and better insulating. Large volumes of hydrazine hydrate are used in the industrial water treating business to remove dissolved oxygen from boiler water, preventing millions of dollars of corrosion damage yearly. Hydrazine hydrate is an important raw material in the production of many of the new wonder drugs used to treat arthritis, insomnia, stress and erectile dysfunction.

Many herbicides and fungicides, which allow for the production of disease and weed free crops use hydrazine hydrate in their manufacture. Hydrazine hydrate is important as a reducing agent for the recovery of precious metals and in catalyst preparation and is finding increasing use as a chain extender in water based urethane coatings.
