Brooks Industries was formed in July 1984, producing cosmetic proteins and derivatives. Our initial product offerings were limited to animal-based protein derivatives, lanolin and its derivatives and fatty alcohol based emulsifiers and concentrates. These specialty chemicals allowed Brooks Industries to carve out a niche for itself in the USA where the company captured 30 percent of the market in four short years. New products were developed including vegetable proteins and their derivatives. These cosmetic plant proteins became of great interest in 1988 when the industry began to move away from animal derived products.
As the organization began to grow, new ideas for "biotechnological active ingredients" came to the forefront. Yeast derived products have become the mainstays of Arch Personal Care Products, from protein complexed vitamins to yeast complexed minerals to respiratory factors. Active lipids and liposomes were developed as delivery systems to increase activity of ingredients. Active botanicals were developed from natural sources that provide efficacy in cosmetic preparations. As the need for active cosmetic ingredients began to grow, Arch Personal Care Products was able to expand globally, providing much of the world with its ideas and technology. Becoming a member of the Arch Chemicals Inc. family allowed this expansion to flourish.
Today, Arch Personal Care Products is on the forefront of the industry, with a wide range of biotechnological active ingredients, delivery systems, proteins, botanicals, functional ingredients, rheological modifiers, and preservation and antioxidant systems.
