There are fire retardant coated products that make extravagant claims with little substantiation. Then there is FLAMEDXX OSB. |
Applications
FLAMEDXX OSB can be used confidently in residential, commercial, and institutional applications such as roof and wall sheathing, ceilings, soffits, subfloors, single-layer flooring, temporary shelters, agricultural storage liners, and garages.
Available Sizes
It is possible to produce panels in all standard thicknesses of OSB. Currently the popular sizes are 7/16”, 15/32”, 19/32”, 23/32”, and 23/32” T&G.
Appearance/Finishing
The coating imparts a peach color to the OSB panel. The coated OSB may be painted; the surface of the OSB should be clean and dry, and painting should not be done until the structure is enclosed to let the OSB dry within acceptable limits.
Hardware
Galvanized steel hardware is recommended.
Jobsite Storage
To protect against moisture and to allow air flow around panels, FLAMEDXX OSB should be elevated off the ground and shielded from weather. Cover roof sheathing promptly after installation.
Warranty
FLAMEDXX, LLC warrants FLAMEDXX OSB against defects in manufacture where the product is properly installed up to a maximum of 20 years. The warranty entitles holder to repair or replacement of defective material. Download a copy of the warranty (215 KB PDF).
Limitations
This product is intended for only above ground applications, protected from precipitation, regular condensation, extreme humidity, or other wetting. Exposure to moisture will, over time, reduce fire retardant properties. FLAMEDXX OSB should not be used in damp areas, such as crawl spaces, or where it will be in direct contact with damp concrete structures or masonry walls.
