The preservative is a blend of carbon-based components. Formulations such as these are not identified as readily as metal-based preservatives, such as CCA (chromated copper arsenate), which contain well-known names from the periodic table of elements. The waterborne preservative in Wolmanized® L³ wood consists of propiconazole, tebuconazole, and imidacloprid. Industry standards abbreviate this as PTI. The combination of tebuconazole and propiconazole, both fungicides, has been patented for its synergistic efficacy. To this base is added imidacloprid, an insecticide.
