Emergency Housing Aid Supplied by Wood Service

Georgian Housing

In the aftermath of the war between Russia and Georgia in 2008, around 134,000 Georgians found themselves homeless.

Keen to provide disaster relief aid as quickly as possible, the German Federal Foreign Office contributed €8 million to assist with the rebuilding of homes for those displaced.

A project then began to build 300 houses in just 180 days, in the outskirts of the village of Gori. The attractive single family houses, both semi-detached and detached dwellings, are each 50m2 in size, and comprise all usual domestic amenities, including a modern kitchen and bathroom.

Arch customer Wood Service, based in Georgia, supplied all of the timber for the roofing and structural members, whichwere treated with RESISTOL®. The exterior timbers, such as those used for the cladding and balconies, were treated with TANALITH® E.
